Diabetic Diet Typeslook

The most important reason for customizing a diabetic diet to fit you is to keep blood sugars within a normal level (70-130 mg/dl). Since most of the sugar (glucose) in the blood comes from the food you eat, it is very important to know how food changes the blood sugar and what amount of food the body needs at every meal. When blood sugars are close to normal, the body is breaking down food the same as a person that doesn't have diabetes and the sugar is able to move from the blood into all your cells. Sugar (glucose) is the fuel that powers every cell especially the brain cells, muscle cells and red blood cells.
Review the information on diabetic diet types for your type of diabetes. This will explain why you have problems with high sugar (glucose) level in the blood. You will have a better understanding of how the diabetic diet works to keep your blood sugars normal.

Type 1 Diabetes - A person does not make insulin and must inject insulin every day. This type of diabetes most often appears in childhood but there are some adults that have Type 1.

Type 2 Diabetes - A person makes insulin and either the insulin doesn't work right or there is just not enough insulin for the amount of sugar (glucose) in the blood. Most individuals with Type 2 diabetes are adults who are overweight and inactive. Type 2 Diabetes can now be seen in overweight and inactive children.

Gestational Diabetes - A woman who does not have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes but during pregnancy has higher blood sugars. The hormones of pregnancy interfere with insulin keeping the blood sugars in the normal range.

Insulin Resistant Diabetes - Someone with this type of diabetes produces enough insulin and sometimes to much insulin, but the insulin is unable to do its job. The insulin is unable to move sugar (glucose) from the blood into the cells. Frequently, this person is overweight and inactive.
